My name is Kim Lance. And if you don't know me I am all about horses! I was born in Denver, Colorado and then later moved to Fort Collins when I was five years old. I was born with a deep passion for horses and was given my first pony for my third birthday. I spent most of my youth riding bareback, jumping hay bales, and making my poor pony do everything from barrel racing to hunter jumper. I earned many buckles and ribbons, but after several years of racing barrels I yearned to explore other disciplines. I started with hunter jumper until I graduated High School. I took multiple years off of riding so I could continue my education, to get married, and started my family, but that passion for horses never left my heart.

My introduction to reining came many years later when my dear friend Lu invited me to a Ranch Horse Versatility Clinic and I was hooked. I competed at my first VRHA show in Golden, Colorado and won first in my division. I continued to compete in VRHA and reining events for the next six years. Which lead me to compete in my first NRHA show in Denver, Colorado, under the instruction of Mark Guynn. I took many clinics and private lessons from some of the top horsemen in the industry such as: Guy Veron, Troy Vernon, Lance Shockley, Steve Schwarzenegger, and Mike Majors, just to name a few. I have since been successful in competing in the CSRHA on a cutting horse, that I trained for reining and won the Green Horse Championship in 2017 and I also have won the limited open and reserve champion open in 2018.

I learned most of my training techniques from my step mom. Vicki was a professional barrel racer in the 1980's and we traveled to many rodeos and jackpots. She rode and trained with natural horsemanship principals, well before this type of training was popular. She never used whips, spurs, or tie downs and yet she always seemed to place in the top five.

In 2007 my husband and I moved to Casper, Wyoming, for his new building career. I was completely shocked and very saddened that Casper did not offer much for the horse enthusiast, so I knew that was where God was leading me. I help start the local saddle club formally known as WHOA, leased a property with arena space, and continued to educate myself, by taking lessons in natrual horsemanship, reining, cutting, dressage, and that lead me to start my own boarding and doing lessons.

A few years later my husband and I were blessed and able to purchase a 165 acre lot in 2016, that we have developed since with a new equine facility. I have been able to successfully board, give lessons, train, and have hosted equine events for over nine years. My passion is to continue my education so that I can bring others the same joy for horses. When someone trains with me I hope to teach them that they can become a partner with their horse no matter what their discipline is.

I have been married to my amazing husband John Lance for 25 years! I am a proud mom of three boys, two daughter-in-laws, and two precious grandbabies that call me KMA.

Success should not be measured by wealth and trophies, but rather by faith in God, family, and friends. My life is blessed by all three.
